Chives were a favorite culinary herb in China as long ago as 3,000 BC and are still a popular culinary herb all over the world. Chives are often used as companion plants for carrots, roses, grapes and tomatoes to deter pests. Chive flowers can be used to produce a colorful vinegar.Honey bees, bumble bees, and native pollinators also love chive flowers.

If you are thinking of growing your own culinary herbs Chives would be a good first choice. Easy to grow in a garden or a pot, easy to use and perennial.
